Long Time Ago When We Was Fab

I got this stupid jingle in my head, so I logged on to youtube to see if they had the Mountain Dew commercial from 1986 with Lance Mountain and Tony Hawk and they totally did. I recorded this ad on one of my TV tapes back in HS because I had met Tony at a skate shop opening and he told us he had shot this commercial so I was watching for it. I loved it...and now it looks so sadly dated. And it's so sad how starved for sk8 footage (& skaters) we were...sigh...

I totally remember that commercial! Was the skate shop on Speedway? Around Craycroft-ish? I remember one Saturday, there was a big half-pipe in a parking lot somewhere around that area in 1986 or 1987.

You can come to my house. Byron still manages to make it up and down the street, weekly. Though, he usually hurts something and he's padded up like the kid on that toilet paper ad! Gotta love him!

I love it! I didn't know you craved the skater--was Rich a skater back in the day?
I think you just like that commercial because of the guy wearing (and waving) the cowboy hat--puts you right at home :)

Jamie, that brings back a rush of memories from the good old days. I Idolized Lance Mountain...but not his cowboy hat. Funny Liz says Byron's still riding, Liam and I hit the skate park together back home now and then. Fun stuff. But I still dont like Mt Dew.

Steph-that was Hot Topic at Speedway & Kolb there was a Powell & Peralta demo there in '86. Funny you remember that!
Elizabeth-Byron & my bro could start a geriatric tour...Lance & Tony could join them. It's hared to believe it's been 25 years!
Kim, Rich was NOT a skater, are you kidding me? He grew up HERE, where the skateborad was introduced like 5 minutes ago. He lived with a skating/surfing posse at BYUH but didn't really get into it.
